My name is Ashley Modrow and I am honored to serve as the Assistant Principal at Valley View Middle School. Prior to this position, I was fortunate to experience a variety of roles in the Bloomington School District. From 2004- 2012, I worked at Oak Grove Middle School as a 6th grade social studies teacher, a 6th grade math teacher, and as the Dean of Students. In 2012, I was hired as a Q-Comp Peer Coach. Over the past four years, it has been my great pleasure and honor to work with and support faculty at multiple elementary and secondary sites in our district, including Valley View Middle School. This year I am looking forward to working with, supporting, and learning from our amazing students, families, and faculty at Valley View in an even greater capacity. It has been an incredible start to our school year and I am excited to be a part of this wonderful community. Please feel free to stop by or call with any questions concerns you may have.
My name is Clayton Ellis and I am thrilled to be the Dean of Students at Valley View Middle School. Over the past 18 years I have been teaching in the Bloomington at Indian Mounds Elementary. Many of the current students at Valley View came from Indian Mounds and I am very excited to reconnect with all of the wonderful students and families. For years, I have often hoped to be working with middle school students. I am also very excited to work collaboratively with the very talented and dedicated staff in our building. I am a Bloomington native and I was fortunate to have been educated in our school system all the way K-12. I graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree while playing football and running track in college. Soon after graduation, I was the head coach of track and field at Jefferson High School for a few years. I also have a Master’s degree in Teaching and Learning from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. Currently, I am enrolled in Minnesota State University, Mankato to obtain an Educational Leadership Degree and Principal’s license.
I am very dedicated to connecting and building relationships with students of various ages and families. As your Dean I will continually seek plans and solutions to best support the success of all students in our building. Middle school is an important bridge onto high school and I believe all of our students can and will be well prepared. I hold high expectations for our students so they can reach and achieve their full potential as learners. I am really looking forward to meeting all of the students and families in our school. Together we can guide our future leaders along a positive path. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to enhance the success of your child. I am always looking forward to new connections, supporting and learning with you.
